New Online Musical Improvisation Workshops Coming up
If you are too far away to come and sing your heart out with us in Brighton then why not join the growing number of people finding joy in making up songs together online. Here are the musical improv workshops we have coming up for you...
We are busy planning our next batch of online workshops so please watch this space for more! In the meantime, here's what we did just before Christmas last year...
Sing Your Teenage DiaryTo be repeated!
Bring your teenage diary, your teenage self and sing out the angst! You might have heard of shows like 'Mortified' where comedians read their teenage diaries out loud for an audience. In this workshop you'll get the chance to sing your teenage diary accompanied by live improv musician Joe Samuel. Bring your old diaries and share what you feel comfortable with, we'll provide dramatic underscore, genre appropriate music for your songs and even play some brand new improv games inspired by the subject of teenage years The Karaoke Wheel of FortuneThis was ridiculous fun
It has been a while since we dusted off the karaoke wheel of fortune (yes it is real). Spin for your song, spin for a genre and find out what happens! Past triumphs have included reggae versions of Queen songs, punk lullabies and operatic James Brown. Heather will guide you through this riotously funny genre mash up while Joe does his best to play in a genre and remember the chords of songs. We will provide the lyrics for you so you don't have to rely on your memory. If you haven't tried this before you gotta give it a spin! |
Mindful MusicIt was really mellow
Take a moment in your busy life to stop and listen, sing along to calm and soothing music. Music roots us to the present moment but all too often we don't have the attention to listen to it properly. This workshop will give you the chance to really feel the music and how your voice fits in with it. Joe will provide the gentle tunes on the piano while Heather will guide you through a meditative journey. Light a candle, turn down the lights and sing with us. Improvised Carol SingingDo it again next year!
A workshop where we will improvise some classic and not so classic Christmas Carols Shops and offices start playing Christmas music in September, so by the time December comes around you really need to hear something different. In this workshop,Heather and Joe will make your holiday dreams come true by providing an opportunity to improvise your own winterval classics. Christmas jumpers optional, and please feel free to come drinking a hot chocolate, mulled wine or pina colada depending on your preferences and time zone. We declare the holidays officially open! |
